Adding Tuya devices to home assistant

There are two ways you can add Tuya enabled smart devices into Home assistant. You can use the Tuya cloud integration or the Tuya local integration. Previously, I have swapped between the two types of integration to achieve what I needed to do. However, I now find that I need to use both integrations as they have different results with different devices. So let me explain. I originally had two power switches which I could use with the Smartlife app. They would switch power through, but also report on the power consumption. However, reporting the power consumption stats is only available using the Tuya local integration. Then, I recently purchased an igenix air conditioning unit. But wouldn’t you know, this device only reports correctly using the Tuya cloud integration. At first, it seemed impossible to have both integrations working in HA independently, but after some jiggery pokery I realized that it can be made to work as long as you set up the Tuya IOT cloud account correctly. So what you need to do on the Tuya IOT account is set up two different projects. One project should contain your local Tuya devices (I named it Tuya local) and the other should contain your cloud Tuya devices (I named it Tuya cloud). They can share the same smartlife user account but you must make sure each device is ‘linked’ to the appropriate project and specifically unlinked from the other. Once you have set things up this way, you should find that local Tuya and cloud Tuya integrated devices can coexist in HA without corruption.
